The Fountain Bistro
The Fountain Bistro is in the heart of downtown Detroit. You can watch folks ice skate and enjoy the varied cosmopolitan scenery this setting affords. Chef Robert Boekema is adventurous and handles meat with the greatest care and precision. My dining companion was delighted with his seared duck breast set atop wild rice and accented with pomegranate and pear glaze. He also rated the apple bacon cheesecake "a 10!", and he is not into cheesecake at all typically. Appetizers inclded the iconic French onion soup, seared ahi tuna salad, a warm goat cheese salad, the delightful house cocktail named the fountain fizz, and a bottle of Tento Carezza wine, which was dry and light. My main course was a vegetable medley accented by an orange glaze. The visit ended on a rich and decadent notel the sampling of many of the nineteen top notch and distinctive hot chocolate drinks. I recommend the Cafe del Capitano, which is a blend of coco, run, butterscotch, whipped cream and cinnamon. In the spring and summer top grade gelatos are featured at the bistro.
