FOUNTAIN BISTRO TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE FOR SECOND PHASE RENOVATIONS;
REOPEN MAY 2011 OFFERING FULL-SERVICE RESTAURANT AND NEW MENU
DETROIT, February 28, 2011—Fountain Bistro at Campus Martius Park will close its doors temporarily starting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 to begin second phase renovations. It is scheduled to reopen in May of 2011 as a full-service restaurant with a menu featuring hearty comfort food influenced by the traditions of French cooking. The name and ownership will remain the same.
“The community’s support for the bistro since we opened the doors in June of last year has been tremendous,” said Fountain Bistro co-owner John Lambrecht, Jr. “We look forward to welcoming everyone back in May when our renovation is complete.”
Lambrecht and his partners Matthew and Kevin Morin said second phase renovations will be heavily focused on a complete remodel of the kitchen, which they say will allow the bistro to offer a new eclectic menu with more variety than before. They will eliminate the existing carryout area to make room for an expanded floor plan that offers more seating. The revamped indoor dining room will provide guests with a welcoming contemporary atmosphere featuring local art and music.
“Our intention all along has been to expand the bistro’s offerings in phases,” said Lambrecht. “With the changes we will be making we felt it was best to temporarily close our doors now, and reopen when the park and the city are in full bloom with spring 2011 excitement.”
One area of the bistro not going to be changed by second phase renovations will be the patio. In May when the bistro reopens, patrons will once again be able to dine alfresco while enjoying a spectacular front row seat to Detroit’s award winning Campus Martius Park and the Woodward Fountain.
